Services: Social Group for Girls
The sessions will focus on preteen expected behaviors and social issues that faces these children. The group is small with about 6 students from the ages of 8-11. The following are just examples of topics covered. Other topics that may be requested by the parents would also be included.
The group will use a sensory gym to warm up and will work on a fun project every session:
- Age appropriate expected and not accepted behaviors
- Age appropriate hobbies
- Age appropriate social activities
- Non-Verbal communication (reading body language, tone of voice and words that say something but mean something else)
- Self esteem
- Body image
- Ethics and mannerism
Other Activities Include:
- Baking and cooking together
- Preparing the girls' night out (Pajama Parties)
- Talking about safety: computer predators, blogs, Facebook™, emails
- Talking about hygiene & appearance
- Talking about boys?!
- Talking about physical changes, hormonal changes
- Talking about friends and loosing or gaining friends
- Talking about bullies
- Gossip
- Preparing and inviting peers to a party
- Socializing and fitting in during parties
- Keeping it "cool," not getting angry or frustrated easily
