Frequently Asked Questions:

Why are the headphones necessary? Can't my child listen over speakers?

The high frequency sounds are an important aspect of therapeutic listening because many children have difficulty attending to these sounds. High frequency sounds die in the air. The headphones put the music closer to the ear.

Is music in the environment okay for my child to listen to?

It is okay to have background music on in your child's environment outside of listening times. Short periods of listening are recommended (15-20 minutes).

Can my child wear headphones again after using the program?

Yes. As with any music, limited use is recommended to allow the ear to "take a break." The volume should be soft and comfortable. Music with bass (rock and roll, heavy metal, etc.) is NOT recommended to be listened to with headphones. Classical, acoustic (without bass or drum) and children's music as well as recordings of spoken voice may be used.
