The Lighthouse Project is offering a new innovative program that combines Interactive Metronome with Sensory Integration techniques to provide a unique therapeutic experience. What is Interactive Metronome (IM)? Interactive Metronome is a computer-based program, which combines hand and foot exercises that are performed to the rhythm of an auditory beat. The goal is to perform movements as close to the beat as possible using auditory guide sounds that indicate an early or late response. The purpose of the guide sounds is to provide an auditory cue to adjust the timing of the movement accordingly. The repetition of precise exercises assists the brain in learning. Sensory Integration techniques, which focus on the ability to process tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular sensory information, will be used to enhance learning and behavior. Techniques to promote sensory modulation will also be used to create the optimal arousal level for learning in order to most benefit from the IM session.
